Version 1 of Numbers - 2 is the 30th episode of the original series and first aired on 9th May 1997. Version 2 is the 128th episode and first aired on 13th January 1998.

Plot (Version 1)[]

In Teletubbyland, Dipsy and Laa-Laa listen to a voice trumpet sing the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill", and then, they re-enact the rhyme and roll away. The Magic Windmill spins, and the Teletubbies watch some children learn about the number 2. Back in Teletubbyland, Laa-Laa plays Peek-a-Boo, and Tinky Winky surprises her. The Magic Windmill spins for The Lion and Bear. The Teletubbies do The Running Away Dance before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Plot (Version 2)[]

The Teletubbies listen to a voice trumpet recite the nursery rhyme "Two Little Dickie Birds" before watching some children learning about the number 2. Dipsy and Laa-Laa are eating Tubby Toast when they decide to play a game called "Two Little Teletubbies", but Noo-Noo tidies up the Tubby Toast while they are playing. The Teletubbies chase him around the house before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Plot (US Version 1)[]

The Teletubbies slide down the slide inside the Home Hill. They enjoy Tubby Toast until the Magic Windmill spins, and the Teletubbies watch some children learning about the number 2. A magical flower cloud appears in Teletubbyland. It rains magic flowers on Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa's ball, Po's scooter, and Dipsy's hat. But Dipsy doesn't like it, so he runs away. After that, the Teletubbies do The Splashing Dance before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Trivia[]

  • Dipsy was the boo shouter in Version 1. Po was the boo shouter in Version 2. Laa-Laa was the boo shouter in the US version.
  • Tinky Winky was the missing Teletubby in Version 1 & the US version. Dipsy is the missing Teletubby in Version 2.
  • The opening segment in the US Version is reused from Ned's Bicycle.
  • The Jack and Jill segment from Version 1 was featured in the VHS Nursery Rhymes and the audio tape Fun with the Teletubbies. For some reason, in the Jack and Jill segment, the lyrics "Jack fell down and broke his crown" were changed to "Jack fell down, all the way down".
  • Version 1 is the last of two episodes with The Lion and Bear to have a segment before the Magical Event starts which was not a dance, the other episode was See-Saw.
  • Version 1 is also the only time the Narrator speaks in a segment before the Lion and Bear.
  • The US Version of Numbers 2 aired on April 17 1998.
  • Po is picked for the TV Event in Version 1. Dipsy is picked in Version 2. Laa-Laa is picked in the US version.
  • In Version 2, when the Tubby Bye-Bye voice trumpet rises, the Teletubbies run out of the house. This also happens in Herding Sheep, Numbers - 9, and How Things Swim. However, in this episode, the windmill is not spinning.
  • In Version 2, the Voice Trumpet in the opening segment is voiced by John Simmit (the actor who played Dipsy), this also occurs in Emily Washing the Pony.
  • In Version 2, During the Two Little Teletubbies Segment, the Narrator, Dipsy and Laa-Laa do not call Noo-Noo Naughty despite tidying up Dipsy and Laa-Laa's Tubby Toasts.
  • The US Version has The Splashing Dance instead of The Running Away Dance.
  • The US Version has the rare Original Window Windmill animation before the TV event.
  • The Lion and Bear was cut from the US Version of Version 1 because it was banned in America by PBS.
  • The US Version of Version 1 has The Splashing Dance instead of The Running Away Dance.
  • Part of the intro to the scary Lion and Bear theme is cut off after the Teletubbies say "Uh-Oh" and run off. This also happens in Dentist.
  • This episode was never dubbed in French.

Goofs[]

  • In the Mandarin Chinese dub of Version 1, during the Lion and the Bear sketch, the Lion and Bear's voices are completely out of sync.
  • In the Dutch version of Version 2, when the Teletubbies say "Uh-Oh!" before going to the TV Event, their voices aren't heard.
