Teletubbies says Eh-Oh!

Four Happy Teletubbies is a segment from Teletubbies. It first appeared in the episode Jumping. It was also shown in Making Lanterns and Here Come the Teletubbies. Another version of the segment appeared in Gospel Singing and the US version of Looking for Rabbits.

Original Version (Jumping and Making Lanterns)[]

One day in Teletubbyland, all the Teletubbies are feeling very, very happy. The Teletubbies start jumping around a big tree. Four happy Teletubbies jumping around the tree. One (Laa-Laa) jumps away, and then, there are three (Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, and Po). Po counts to three in Cantonese (yāt, yih, sàam) and Dipsy counts to three. Three happy Teletubbies, what do they do? One goes to hide. Dipsy hides behind the tree. Then, Tinky-Winky and Po wonder where Dipsy has gone. And then, there are two. Po counts to two in Cantonese and Tinky Winky counts to two. Then they start running around Teletubbies. Two happy Teletubbies out for a run, faster and faster. Tinky Winky runs away leaving Po on her own. She feels tired so she lies on the ground. One happy Teletubby lying/sitting in the sun (who giggles). Then she starts to roll away. And then there are none. The flowers gasp. Then the windmill starts spinning and all the Teletubbies watch it spin. They say 'Uh-Oh!' and run away for the TV Event.

Four happy Teletubbies jumping around the bush (The narrator calls it a 'tree') One (Laa-Laa) jumps away, and then, there are three (Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, and Po). Po counts to three in Cantonese and Tinky Winky and Dipsy count to three. Three happy Teletubbies, what do they do? One goes to hide. Dipsy hides behind the bush. Then, Tinky-Winky and Po wonder where Dipsy has gone. And then, there are two. Po counts to two in Cantonese and Tinky Winky counts to two. Then they start running around Teletubbyland. Two happy Teletubbies out for a run, faster and faster. Tinky Winky runs away leaving Po on her own. She sits on a hill. One happy Teletubby lying/sitting in the sun. Then she rolls away. And then there are none.

Suddenly, Laa-Laa pops up and says 'Boo!' And then, there is one again. One happy Teletubby playing Peek-a-Boo. Along comes another one. Tinky Winky pops up from a far away hill and says 'Boo!' Laa-Laa and Tinky Winky run over to each other, and have a Big Hug. And then are two. Two happy Teletubbies, what do they see? They look around and then see Dipsy's hat from behind the bush. They run over to the bush and Dipsy comes out from the bush. And then there are three. Three happy Teletubbies, are there anymore? Of course there are. Suddenly, Po comes rolling back.

The Teletubbies decide to play their game again. This time after jumping around the bush Laa-Laa and Po jump away. And then, are two. Tinky Winky and Dipsy count to two. Then Po comes back. And then there are three. Three happy Teletubbies, what do they do? One goes to hide. Dipsy hides behind the bush again. Tinky Winky and Po wonder where Dipsy has gone. Then Tinky Winky finds Dipsy behind the bush. Suddenly they hear Laa-Laa coming and hide behind the bush. Laa-Laa comes back and wonder where Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Po have gone. They pop out from behind the bush and there are four happy Teletubbies again. The Teletubbies want to play again and again but the windmill stops spinning. The Teletubbies say 'Uh-Oh!' and run away for Tubby Bye-Bye.

Goofs[]

  • After Po falls down in the original version, a leaf/frog is seen jumping in the background.

Alternate ending[]

  • In Here Come the Teletubbies, the windmill spinning is replaced with the shot of the house from Balancing with Laa-Laa edited out, followed by the Tubby Toast segment from Ned's Bicycle with the shot before they come down the slide cut to make it seem like they met back up with each other at the house.

Trivia[]

  • Laa-Laa and Tinky Winky playing Peek-a-Boo was originally shown in the Two Happy Teletubbies segment in Numbers - 2 (Version 1). In that episode, Tinky Winky runs up to Laa-Laa while she's playing Peek-a-Boo, and says "Boo!", surprising her. The two then laugh and have a Big Hug. After they have a Big Hug, the windmill starts spinning for the Lion and Bear.
  • The Gospel Singing version appeared as a bonus feature in the US DVD All Together Teletubbies!.
  • In the Gospel Singing version, when Tinky Winky says "Boo!" after popping out from the hill, the audio is actually taken from the Tubby Bye Bye sequence (can be heard when Po or Dipsy is the boo shouter).
