Musical Playtime, retitled Silly Songs & Funny Dances in the USA, is the 8th special of Teletubbies home media releases (13th special in the US). It was released on 6 September 1999 by BBC and Ragdoll Productions and on May 21, 2002, in the US by PBS.

It was re-released along with Nursery Rhymes on the DVD Musical Rhyme Time! in 2008.

Trivia[]

  • Po was the boo shouter.
  • Laa-Laa was the missing Teletubby.
  • This is the second video in which Tinky Winky is not played by Dave Thompson in the main segments (not counting the theme song, TV Events and Tubby Bye-Bye). It is instead played by Simon Shelton. The first are Happy Christmas from the Teletubbies and Merry Christmas, Teletubbies!
  • This is the last video to have a dance until Let's Dance! in 2001.
  • The US version is called Silly Songs & Funny Dances and Boom Boom Dance is replaced by the Ballet video and the Teletubbies doing the Boom Boom Dance is replaced by Laa-Laa's Secret Dance.
    • In addition, the VHS copy of Silly Songs & Funny Dances is the first to use the low-pitched Warner Home Video logo with the AOL Time Warner byline. But on the DVD and the Canadian VHS this logo was not actually shown and instead still uses the regular 1996 Warner Home Video logo, with the original pitch music.
    • On top of that, the VHS copy of Silly Songs & Funny Dances is the only VHS of Teletubbies to use the PBS Kids Use Your Imagination promo at the beginning. But it was not shown on the Canadian VHS, because VHS tapes having PBS Kids Use Your Imagination promo can only took the rights to US.
    • On some copies of the US VHS of Silly Songs & Funny Dances, the PBS Kids logo is not shown at the beginning and only shown at the end. But however in the end of the Canadian VHS the PBS Kids logo is not shown, the logo is only actually shown at the beginning.
    • Interestingly enough, some other VHS copies of Silly Songs & Funny Dances use the Dash ID being shown at both the beginning and end of the tape. However, at the beginning of the tape, the Dash ID has the audio from the Dot ID (while at the beginning of the Canadian VHS, the Dot ID logo is actually shown instead along with the same audio, which is correct), while at the end of the tape, the Dash ID has the correct audio, and has the pbskids.org web URL address without the word "kidsvideo".
  • In the US version, all the Laa-Laa's Secret Dance, Mittens and Harp segments have different audio recordings on the narrator's lines than it was in the US TV airings of Twirlers, Handy Hands and Harp.
  • The Ballet video from the US version would later appear in the Teletubbies Everywhere episode Ballet (USA).
