Teletubbies Wiki

The Pupils of Chuckery Infants School, Walsall were a gang of kids who appeared in the early 1997 episodes of the Teletubbies TV series. They were the gang of children who appeared in the episodes featuring King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, a British jazz band who played nursery rhymes for different selections of the Chuckery Infant School Pupils. On Teletubbies, they made their appearances by wearing their school uniforms, some had the school's former logo, and some sweatshirts (which never appeared in the final version of King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys' music videos) had the yellow logo missing. Different selections made the introductions, all of which end with the quote, "Come on". They made five episode appearances.

Trivia[]

  • At the time of their appearances, they were approximately either 4, 5, 6, or 7 years old.
  • Their first four appearances were filmed at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, their last appearance was filmed at their school, Chuckery Primary School (which was known as Chuckery Schools at the time of their appearances).
  • Their colors were red, yellow, or white.
  • The school they once went to is located in the town of Walsall, England, United Kingdom.
  • A different gang of the Pupils of Chuckery Infant School was seen on the show depending on the episode title.
  • They were the only gang of children who appeared in the King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys episodes.
  • The four pupils (two girls and two boys) of the gang seen at the Herbaceous Border on their first four appearances also appeared in the music videos filmed at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, however, their outfits seen at the Herbaceous Border never appeared in the final version of the music videos featuring King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys.
  • On their last appearance Hickory Dickory Dock, their introduction was filmed in the hallway of Chuckery Schools (now known as Chuckery Primary School), featuring four pupils (two boys and two girls) standing in front of the camera saying "Hello, come and see.", running off, returning to say "Come on", twice instead of once and run off again.
  • Their first four appearances had the introductions filmed at the Herbaceous Border in front of several trees, which have the same lines, and the same actions. Also, one introduction had "Hello, come with us" instead of "Hello, come and see".
  • In the episodes The Grand Old Duke of York, See-Saw, and Hey Diddle Diddle, the opening at the Herbaceous Border trees of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens featured three pupils (one boy and two girls) running toward the camera all saying, "Hello, come with us." The pupils run off, and then return again to say "Come on." The pupils then leave. In the episode Humpty Dumpty, the opening at the Herbaceous Border trees featured the same ending, but the difference is one pupil (one boy) stands in front of the camera saying, "Hello, come and see." The pupil then runs off, returns again to say "Come on." The pupil then leaves.
  • On their first four appearances, which was filmed at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the closing featured them cheering and applause. On their last appearance, Hickory Dickory Dock, which was filmed at Chuckery Schools (now known as Chuckery Primary School), the closing featured the cheering and applause at the end, but shorter.
  • On 8 May 1998 in the Evening Telegram, under the headline The Pleasure's all ours, Mark Skirving of King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys said the band changed their name for the appearance where they sang the first four nursery rhymes, The Grand Old Duke of York, See-Saw Margery Daw, Humpty Dumpty, and Hey Diddle Diddle with a rhythm and blues version to different selections of them, where they spent a whole day at the city of Birmingham, England's botanical gardens in the suburb of Edgbaston, but King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys regretted the name change when the show, which became the Teletubbies TV series, attracts a cult following.[1]
  • On 12 March 1999 in The Walsall Observer, under the headline Swing Kings Back Their Roots, Mark Skirving of King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys said he wore the yellow double-breasted suit to sing The Grand Old Duke of York, See-Saw Margery Daw, Humpty Dumpty, and Hey Diddle Diddle to different gangs of kids at Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, England, and strangely, they were the kids featured in the music videos. However, their first four appearances were filmed separately from the four episodes that contain their music videos.[2]
  • On 22 March 2002 in a British news company, under the headline Biscuit Boys in Tubblyland, Mark Skirving of King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys stated that after he met Teletubbies co-creator Anne Wood at a gig in Stafford, England, United Kingdom, she asked the band to sing nursery rhymes on the Teletubbies TV series, so he rewrote the first four nursery rhymes, The Grand Old Duke of York, See-Saw Margery Daw, Humpty Dumpty, and Hey Diddle Diddle with a swing style by adding more lyrics, filmed in 1996 with the band performing the songs featuring them at the botanical gardens in the city of Birmingham, England.
  • Although their uniforms worn at the Herbaceous Border for the Birmingham Botanical Gardens episodes were shown in the final version of their Teletubbies appearances, the uniforms worn at the Herbaceous Border were never shown in the final version of King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys' music videos filmed near the bandstand, but only possibly appeared in the deleted footage.
  • Four years after their appearances were filmed, the Infant School they were once part of combined with the Junior School in fall 2000, now known as Chuckery Primary School.
  • Like some of the other gangs of kids on the Teletubbies TV series, their names were never revealed until Richard Breedon (as Velum Break), who is now a synthesist stated that in May 2023 he was on an episode of Teletubbies as one of the kids from Chuckery School featuring King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and later relived the same experience on 30 April 2023 at the 2023 Swingamajig Festival, 27 years after he appeared in a nursery rhyme music video.
