The rabbits are supporting characters in Teletubbies.

Description[]

The rabbits are the only species of Earth animal found in Teletubbyland. They appear in every episode on hills and in their burrows. Despite being seen frequently, they are rarely mentioned by the narrator. The Teletubbies enjoy playing with the rabbits and watching them. Apart from the Lion and the Bear (edited sketch), the rabbits are never seen in any of the other magical events.

Appearance[]

The rabbits have light brown fur and long ears. They are very large, even in comparison to the Teletubbies. In Asian Storyteller (The Fox), a black rabbit that is extremely rare can be found.

Trivia[]

  • The rabbits in Teletubbies are a breed called "Flemish Giant". They were used for their size so as not to give away the scale of the Teletubbies filming site.
  • They also were notorious for breeding on set due to not being spayed and neutered, and several scenes had to be re-filmed due to them being very intimate on camera.
  • The rabbits are never seen in Magical Events, apart from the Lion and Bear (edited sketch). They hide from them in episodes that feature the original sketch, possibly because they are frightened like the Sun.
