Swimming with Stephanie

Swimming with Stephanie is the 31st episode from Series 1 of Teletubbies and the show's 31st episode overall.

Plot[]

The Teletubbies fall asleep on a hill. Then, they suddenly wake up to see The Magic Windmill spinning in normal animation. They watch some children swimming with a woman called Stephanie. Back in Teletubbyland, the Teletubbies watch the clouds float by. Suddenly, a little puffy cloud floats inside the Home Hill! They rush inside to see that pieces of the cloud get spread out all over the house. Then, it’s time for Tubby Custard but they find it rather inconvenient getting a cloud indoors. A piece of the cloud gets stuck on Laa-Laa's foot and she accidentally spills her Tubby Custard. Then, Noo-Noo comes tidying up the Tubby Custard and cloud but all that Tubby Custard and all that cloud gets very mixed up inside Noo-Noo. He goes over to the doors and blows the little puffy cloud outside. The cloud gets turned into a special pink Tubby Custard cloud! The Teletubbies wave goodbye to the cloud as it floats away. Then, they do The Jumping Dance Before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Plot (US Version)[]

When Po eats her Tubby Toast, she listens to aVoice Trumpet sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and a Magical Star appears. She hears Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Laa-Laa coming back and shows them the Star before it disappears. The Teletubbies watch some children and Stephanie go for a swim. The Teletubbies are very happy when they find their Favourite Things before Tubby Bye-Bye.

Trivia[]

This is the first episode where the rabbit song plays. After the rabbit song is over, the camera fades to the opening shot of Home Hill 2.
- This is also the last episode featuring the Opening Shot of "Home Hill 2". The shot will later appear in two home media releases (Favourite Things, and the VHS Uh-Oh! Messes & Muddles (USA: Funny Day)), but will no longer appear in the series.
The version of the rabbit song featured in this episode will be used again in Paddling Pool, but instead of fading to the Opening Shot "Home Hill 2", it cuts directly to the Opening Shot "Right Path 1"
The Teletubbies Lay Down on the Hill segment was featured in the US VHS Blue Sky.
The Tubby Custard Cloud segment was featured in the VHS Uh-Oh! Messes & Muddles.
The US Version of Swimming with Stephanie aired on September 22, 1998.
Laa-Laa was the boo-shouter in the UK Version. Dipsy was the boo-shouter in the US Version.
Dipsy was the missing Teletubby in the UK Version. Tinky Winky was the missing Teletubby in the US Version.
This is also directed by Vic Finch in the US Version.
The Teletubbies saying goodbye to Tinky Winky at the end of The Jumping Dance is much longer and the Voice Trumpet rising for Tubby Bye-Bye is much delayed than usual.
This is the second episode to feature the first extended version of The Jumping Dance. The other two episodes were Humpty Dumpty and Ned's Potatoes.
This is the last episode where the Baby Sun was shown after the first version of The Jumping Dance ended.
This is the only episode where the Teletubbies don't wear bibs when they have Tubby Custard. In all other episodes, however, the Teletubbies wear bibs when they have Tubby Custard.

Goofs[]

At the beginning of the episode, after the opening shot of Field 1, there's some quick footage of some trees and hills. During this footage, part of Tinky Winky's antenna can be seen on the right.
