The Unused Magic Windmill

The Unused Magic Windmill

Teletubbies Everywhere is a spin-off of Teletubbies that aired on CBeebies in 2002. In the United States, the show aired as part of the PBS Kids version of Teletubbies in 2003, usually airing as the first half of an episode. This segment (on the first half) usually replaces the original first half of the Teletubbies episodes.

These are 10 minute episodes that teaches about colours, shapes, numbers, simple concepts such as up and down or big and small and culture.

Teletubbies Everywhere does not take place in Teletubbyland. Instead it takes place in a variety of coloured backgrounds that change between segments. Each episode follows the same format which includes 4-5 segments (between the intro and ending).

The series do not return in the reboot series.

Intro Each Teletubby appears, says "Eh-Oh" and disappears. In each episode the Teletubbies appear in a different particular order:

  1. Po, Dipsy, Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa
  2. Tinky Winky, Laa-Laa, Dipsy, Po
  3. Dipsy, Po, Laa-Laa, Tinky Winky
  4. Laa-Laa, Tinky Winky, Po, Dipsy

Then all the Teletubbies appear together, say "Eh-Oh" and then disappear. Then the letters of the Teletubbies logo appear, the Narrator says "Teletubbies Everywhere" and the logo disappears. In the US version the sun background fades to a background colour with the theme song, the Teletubbies appear and then disappear and the narrator says: "Teletubbies Everywhere".

The background changes colours and the Teletubbies begin to appear one by one until 4 sets of Teletubbies have appeared. Then they all say "Eh-Oh" together and disappear. In the US version, they don't use "Eh-Oh" in each Teletubby, nor does the Teletubbies logo appear and disappear (except the narrator saying "Teletubbies Everywhere").

Counting One of the Teletubbies will appear, for example, Tinky Winky. One by one, more Tinky Winkys will appear until a certain number of them have appeared. For example, the number 5, 5 Tinky Winkies will appear and as they appear the Narrator counts them. Then, all the Tinky Winkies say "Eh-Oh" together. Then, one by one, they start to disappear. The one that first appears says "Bye-Bye" before disappearing.
Shapes One of the Teletubbies (or sometimes 2) will draw a shape using their feet. As they walk, paint appears below their feet and reveal a shape. When they have finished, they will look at the shape and either just walk away or ask what it is. They will often make the shape one more time. Occasionally, the shape will become solid when finished. The Narrator will say the name of the shape and then it disappears.
Colours The background changes to a certain colour, for example, green. The Narrator says the name of the colour. Then one of the Teletubbies, for example, Dipsy appears and sees the green background and starts saying "Green". Then, he walks away.
Concepts Here are some examples of simple concepts and how they are taught in Teletubbies Everywhere:

Stop and Go - The Teletubbies run around. The Narrator says "Stop" and the Teletubbies stop running. Then the Narrator says "Go" and they start running again.

Up and Down - One of the Teletubbies appears up at the top of the screen and they slowly jump down to the bottom of the screen. In Dog Training (Russia), Po jumps up to the top of the screen

Big and Small - In Balloon Umbrella (Taiwan) Po holds a big umbrella and Tinky Winky holds a small one.

Near and Far - One of the Teletubbies walks up close to the screen (Near) and then runs further away from the screen (Far).

Fast and Slow - In Go Karts (Morocco) The Teletubbies run fast or walk slow in a line.

TV Event (Culture) A short glockenspiel solo of the Teletubbies theme plays. Then one of the Teletubbies will appear. The sound of the windmill whooshing is heard and the windmill's sparkles appear behind the Teletubby. Their aerial lights up and a video plays from their tummy.

The Teletubbies Everywhere TV Events feature children from all over the world showing traditions from their cultures and speaking their languages.

Unlike the regular Teletubbies series (but also like the VHS tapes), these videos only play once.

Big Hug The Teletubbies appear while some piano music plays. The Narrator says: "Teletubbies love each other very much". Then, the Teletubbies all have a Big Hug before walking away.
Ending Like in the intro, each Teletubby will appear, except this time they say "Bye-Bye" and disappear.

The background changes colours and the 4 sets of Teletubbies appear and say "Bye-Bye" together. Then, they all start to disappear one by one in the reverse order.

The background changes colour and all the Teletubbies appear one last time and say "Bye-Bye" before disappearing. Then, the credits appear. In the US version, any background colour fades back to an episode where the sun baby appears without credits or changing background colour that all the Teletubbies say goodbye. Then, it goes to the Teletubbyland segment. However, the screener tape of All Together Teletubbies! has the credits.

The order of these segments change in every episode. Some episodes may have other random segments, such as the Teletubbies playing with their favourite things, or Noo-Noo tidying up.
