The Calypso Dance is one of the dances that the Teletubbies do.

Plot[]

The Teletubbies are sitting on a flat hill when suddenly, they see Laa-Laa's Ball bouncing over them. They get up and start to bounce as they follow the ball.

The ball bounces past the house. When the Teletubbies get to the front of the house they begin the dance. They walk to the left (their right/viewer's left) and then to the right (their left/viewer's right). Then, they walk from side to side. Then, they walk in a line spreading out. They begin to walk around in circle and bounce around. Then, they lift their legs up and down and shake their tummies. Then, they walk in circles and bounce around again. Then, just as the dance finishes, the Teletubbies walk to the side of the house bouncing around. They walk and bounce faster and faster until they are completely gone and the dance is over.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of the 5 dances to feature the Teletubbies' late 1997-mid 1998 costumes. The other four are The Bumping Dance (Bumps a Daisy), The Twisty Dance, The Jumping Dance (2nd Version), and The Happy Dance.
  • This dance has an extended version. However, it is extremely rare as it only ever appeared in the US series as well as Sunday Specials. For years, some fans had been wondering about this dance as it was first brought up by YouTube user "Multifunfunman". The only proof of its existence had been a short clip from a YouTube video called "Teletubbies Glamorous". It is the first appearance in the US version of the episode Our Dog Alice.
  • In the extended version, instead of the music key changing to A flat major after the Teletubbies shake their tummies, the key changes to E major. Then when they start the dance again, the key changes to F sharp major and then after the Teletubbies shake their tummies the key changes to A flat major as seen normally. The second half of the extended version also includes additional instruments like the Tuba and Xylophone.
  • In some versions, when Laa-Laa shakes her tummy, her jingling noises can be heard.

Goofs[]

  • During the part where the Teletubbies lift their legs and shake their tummies, they stand in the order of Laa-Laa, Tinky Winky, Dipsy and Po. But then in the next shot, when the music changes keys, Tinky Winky and Dipsy have swapped places.
