The Running Away Dance is one of the dances that the Teletubbies do. It was first shown in the episode Numbers - 1 (Version 1). The Teletubbies do this dance around some hills near their house.
All the Teletubbies meet at the hills. Po starts running back and forth. Then, all the Teletubbies run away in different directions and then back again. Then, they pretend to pant. Tinky Winky and Po run past Laa-Laa and Dipsy, then Tinky Winky and Laa-Laa bump tummies and so do Dipsy and Po. Then, they pretend to pant again and run past each other and pant again. Then, they run up to a hill and they all spin round and round together and the dance ends
This is one of the few dances with an extended version. But in this dance the music changes key throughout the dance. It's very rare that the Teletubbies do this dance just once.

Trivia[]
- In Numbers - 1, Balancing, Numbers - 2, Naughty Cloud, Naughty Bee and Dance with the Teletubbies (UK Version), the Teletubbies are silent during the dance. In other episodes they giggle during the dance.
- In Numbers - 1 and Dance with the Teletubbies (both UK and US Versions), the Teletubbies don't cheer before going to do it again.
- In Numbers - 1 (V1), Balancing, Numbers - 2 (V1), Naughty Cloud and Dance with the Teletubbies (both UK and US Versions), the Teletubbies don't cheer after they complete the dance.
- In Balancing and the US Version of Herding Sheep, the windmill spins for the TV event after the dance ends. In Balancing, it cuts to the windmill spinning, in the US Version of Herding Sheep, when the windmill spins for the TV Event, the clip the Teletubbies say "Uh-Oh" is from The Twisty Dance. It’s the same clip from The Tip Toe Dance (shortened version), taken from Cafe Eggs.
- In Teletubbies - The Album, the Teletubbies' jingles make no sound at all.
